Music from Camp Sherman

In 1917 Roy Pritzen wrote the lyrics and music to “I’m Going Down to Chillicothe” as a tribute to the young men reporting for basic training at Camp Sherman (the voice rendition begins at the 2-minute mark).

The Great Seal of Ohio Band recently released this rendition and plan to play it at the Majestic courtyard band concert on July 2nd.

Refrain:
“I’m going down to Chillicothe / I’m going down there right away / I’ll
get myself a suit of khaki / And fight for the good old U.S.A. / And when
we get into the trenches / We’ll make the Kaiser’s hair turn grey /
Conscript or not I’ll be Johnny on the spot / I’m going down to
Chillicothe.”

Hear it live at the concert following the Vaudeville Production, which starts at 6:00 PM on Sunday, July 2.
Remember this is a free event, but ticketed on this website as it is likely to sell out !

Released in coordination with Ross County Commissioners.
